- Rated 4 out of 5by pnhan, 8 months agoNot every site will work (by CSP or x-forward headers), it's works.
It's a bit minimalist, but if could add keyboard shortcuts/or click on the icon instead of just hovering it, it would be much better. - Rated 4 out of 5by ibo, 3 years agoThis is nearly perfect.Except few missing thing: Give a choice to activate by clicking instead of hovering. Because ,you don't realize you hover on. And it opens links without wishing. I live this too much. This is boring. I changed this behavior from .js file.OK now.And I couldn't see the icon easily.Because it is blue.Generally pages with links are all blue. I made border thicker and pink in css file. I changed frame size etc. Ok. It is still as simple as possible. But problem I had to set up "xpinstall.signatures.required" choice as "false" to be able to use this modification in firefox. Better you give us these preferences. Thanks as a result.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13582018, 4 years agothis is exactly what I want, super helpful when browsing tons of link pages. The only drawback is that it seems the author stops maintaining it.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15312840, 4 years agothis would be 5/5 if there was an option to add your own custom key modifier in addition to mouse hovering for the link to preview. for example: mouse hovers over link, nothing happens... i press and hold control and then hover over a link, a preview displays!
- Rated 4 out of 5by KorkyTheKat, 4 years agoI like it a lot. Perhaps a few settings for us fiddle with please.
- Rated 4 out of 5by stvad, 4 years agoThe addon page say's it's OpenSource (under MPL2). But I can't seem to find it on GitHub or alike. I'd like to contribute some improvements to the extension, can you please let me know how I can do so/get in touch with you? Thanks!
UPD: 2020-12-28: pushed a snapshot of current code to https://github.com/Stvad/link-preview . Will explore from there. Thanks for developing this in a first place!Developer response
posted 4 years agoOpenSource, not CVS publishing. Look for the code in FirefoxProfile / extensions / {1274ac2c-6015-4975-acb0-976dadad6b35} .xpi
I would be glad if you release the Advanced Link Preview. But "Simple" will remain as simple as possible. - Rated 4 out of 5by simCyb, 5 years ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by Chuck, 5 years agoCoolpreviews was one of the best add-ons ever. I looked a lot and never found anything close and had given up hope. Simple Link Preview is a close replica. Yes, its basic ie simple, yes there aren't any ways to customize it, HELL YES! it pops up most links in a preview window to get a quick glimpse (Maybe some links / pages don't support it so not blaming Simple Link.) A huge thanks to the developer / team on putting this out there. Its a very nice improvement in my browsing experience. TY!
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15397309, 5 years agoThank you Lecron for filling the massive gap since the demise of CoolPreviews.
I understand that its is in early development, but it does not work properly with eBay, but perfectly usable most of the time.
Many thanks again - Rated 4 out of 5by Alessandro Duarte, 6 years agoHi! A fine replace for CoolPreviews but in some cases when we preview the link it automatically open the preview page and doesn't even let you go back! Correct that and it's a 5 star extension!!!! ;)

- Rated 4 out of 5by recycler.fox, 7 years agoWould be great to have some changeable options, like preview icon appearance timeouts and position; autohide preview window timeout; preview window vertical size, also black/white lists.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14169978, 7 years agoOn some websites (e.g. ebay.de) the preview window closes and the link opens in the same tab from where I previewed. Hence my former website disappears and is replaced by the previewed link. It does not behave that way on all websites. When working as intended then this tool is excellent, thank you! I am also a former Cool Preview user and so greatful to Lecron about this new Addon. If you need further details to understand/debug my issue, please feel free to drop a line.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Lateron, 7 years agoUnfortunately it gets in the way of ImTranslator which I use a lot. I miss Cool Previews a lot. Is there a way to turn this add on On or OFF? It seems to have superseded ImTranslator. When I disable it, ImTranslator reappears.
CANCEL that! It means I cannot translate a LINK, but the text is still translating by using ImTranslator.
Great job !! - Rated 4 out of 5by Phylis, 7 years agoThanks Lecron, This is a great start.
Please explain the icons along the top.
The back / forward arrows. Is that to take you through pages on the website?
What is that square suppose to do?
The pin on the right side, allows the preview to stay up?
Would be nice to be able to resize the window. I just want a preview, not the whole website.
Is it suppose to work on Google Images.?Developer response
posted 7 years agoIn the preview window, you can click on the links. Accordingly, go back and forward.
"Square" allows you to open the page you are viewing in a new tab.
Click "Pin" to block the automatic closing of the preview window.
For the rest, I want to keep the add-on as simple as possible. No plans to resize the window, adapt to individual services, overcome the CSP locks.
