- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13109865, 7 years agoТребует установки конвертатора, когда он априори не нужен, и потом требовать купить лицензию.
Requires the installation of a converter, when it is not needed a priori, and then demand to buy a license. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13456705, 7 years ago

- Rated 1 out of 5by nickclarkson, 7 years agoLike all recent reveiews say, this USED to be a great addon. Now it doesn't do anything without a "companion app". It needs too many permissions for my liking too. Used to be a 5-star addon, now if I could rate it 0 I would. Uninstalled.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Karl , 7 years agoContains hidden fees. First they take you to their website and make you install an external application, then when you try to use it, it sends you to their website again and says you have to buy the add-on.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13551861, 7 years agoVideo DownloadHelper was a great tool for me to preserve the videos I like. It's was awesome!
Unfortunately, it's now asking users to install companion app so that it can combine unwanted QR codes with the video that users are trying to download. Even worse, the re-encoding process proceeded by the companion app needs much CPU resources to deal with, and for sure users are not willing to watch this happens.
Goodbye, VDH. - Rated 1 out of 5by Tungstie, 7 years agoThis used to be a great add-on, now it's a spam engine that will nag you with an unwanted tab every time you open firefox - whether it be for a 0.0.1 update, or a reminder to download the "optional" companion app required to save 90% of the video resolutions and formats that used to be free
I can't really recommend you to try another add-on doing the same thing, since there is none at the moment on firefox quantum... but the moment someone with a bit of time on their hands develops an alternative, just *ditch* downloadhelper - it had its heyday, but now it's just an annoying piece of spamming nagware.
And just to be clear: i don't fault the author for requesting donations, that's perfectly fair... it's the method he's using to bully people into handing over cash that make me want to grab a bucket and lean over it
My recommendation: disable video downloadhelper, and only enable it when you really need to try grabbing a vid
RIP video downloadhelper - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13550995, 7 years agoUsed to be really good, would download anything. Then this weird companion app? Gives me a bad feeling..... so now it's gone, gone, gone.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13545320, 7 years agoCompletly crazy. Dowloader needs to install external program and during download it puts big QR Code watermark in video !!!
It takes long time.
You have to pay 28$ to remove watermark.
One word: shit.
Don't recommend. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13545294, 7 years ago?????????????????????????? Companion ?????????????????????????????????????
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13545121, 7 years agoCompanion app? QR code? More than 25$ for a license?...It was a great addon, now it's just a cash machine, too bad...

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13541996, 7 years agoI loved it, now I hate it. It just does not work. Companion app? I hope you are joking.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13542043, 7 years agov 7.0.0: now coming to you with all the goodness of a huge ugly QR splash code embedded in the output, now takes 20min to acquire and assemble (with some previously unnecessary 2nd processing app) whlile running the CPU at 500% for the whole time, only to generate unwatchable output that frequently does not have audio sync w/video.
am reverting to FF56 after much aggravating time spent trying to come to terms w/FF57 and have come to the conclusion that it truly sucks, yet another sad bellwether that mozilla has jumped the shark. this app was the last straw in that decision, 7.0.0 is revlocked to FF57, none of the previous versions will work on 57. fortunately the previous versions will work just fine on FF56. for how long is anyone's guess but that at least gives me some time to find a workaround.
LAUGHABLE. was previously a very reliable and turnkey app that left me with warm fuzzies towards the developers. you people truly, wondrously screwed the pooch. if only I could give it no stars. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13541995, 7 years agoUse to be able to record livestreams with this add-on. I can still record using the companion app which is a seperate download but for some reason with the firefox v57 quantum update you removed the STOP button which normally would save the recording as is when you hit it. Why was this done? Now I can no longer stop a live stream recording and save the video. If I exit browser during a live stream it results in a file that cannot be played. Can you please add the STOP button back to the live stream recording companion app?
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13536496, 7 years agoThe new version is a total crap,it does not allow to see the companion button, beside you can't say if to save the files of the queue as before now you must choose the path when you start downloading the video, just a garbage, return to the previous version.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13534111, 7 years agoThis app is now totally useless with the latest Firefox 57. Do not waste your time installing it.
I have no idea why it post processes for an extraordinary length of time resulting with a QR stamp and asking to sign up for a license.
How can it take so long with the latest quad core i7 gaming computer?
I have now removed it. There are plenty of alternatives that work correctly.
It is a great shame because it used to be one of the best, which I had reviewed with 5 stars in the past. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13531944, 7 years agoVery complicated to use with all of these different options and functions, I just need a basic extension to download videos!
