- Rated 1 out of 5by pras92, 7 years agoWhen trying to download a video, it says some of the operations requires a companion app. i.e., It wants you to install a exe software for the browser plugin to work, and what's worse is this requirement isn't for 'some operations'. It's required for any and all operations I tried with a JWPlayer video.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13882339, 7 years agonever works asks me to download an external program literally every time I try to use it which I download. When it finally does work there's a huge ugly qr code on the file. Either make it a paid program or ask for donations but this is the worst of both worlds. zero stars

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13562944, 7 years agoThis was a great browser extension until the developer stupidly forced all users to encode videos they downloaded with QR Codes. That change ruined the product. As for the current mobile extension, it does not allow you to select the bitrate of the video you want when a site has multiple versions of the same video.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Vlad Adminov, 7 years agoIt cannot just download video from youtube, it always tries to convert it. Conversion is slow. It adds ugly stamp on any video.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13878352, 7 years agoThis used to be a simple, reliable add-on but that is no longer the case. Now, any attempt to download video files off anything other than Youtube redirects to a page that is blank save for a graphic reading: "This operation requires an external application to be completed. Install companion app." It doesn't provide any information on what this "companion app." even is. What a load of crap. I am so disappointed. I thought you were better than this.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13877415, 7 years agoWas great until recently. They're now force-including QR codes on high-res videos. Greedy idiots can keep their shitty product.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13872389, 7 years agoMake your money fine, but we don't care for the QR code or any forced watermark on videos, and I'm not buying no matter how much it's shoved in my face. Downloadhelper was once free, and it's the only reason I used it. Now, it's rendered useless with the last update, and VERY SLOW. Goodbye, and learn something from the negative reviews. /uninstall

- Rated 1 out of 5by ScheideTech, 7 years agoIt was very slow processing a small file and never did finish the larger ones. Pretty much gave up on it and uninstalled it after a couple of days.
The ads were very hard on my limited bandwidth in this rural broadband challenged area. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13866282, 7 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 6131274, 7 years agoThis is now a paid addon.
It should be clearly mentioned somewhere. I lost my time, thinking that it was a free addon, like some years ago.
Now, for most actions, an additional software needs to be installed. This software adds a QR Code inside the videos unless you pay $28.50 USD or €18.50.
I think this kind of addon should not be allowed for a free and open source browser.Developer response
posted 7 years agoThis hasn't changed for almost 10 years. Having paid options is the reason why you keep having an up-to-date add-on. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13193441, 7 years agoAbsolute garbage. It inserts a giant QR code on top of the video and at NO point in the process does it actually mention this. I don't mind monetizing software but this just wasted my time. On top of that, the conversion process took over 4 hours for a 30 min 1080p video on a 16 core high end machine. Garbage.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Leoq, 7 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13860108, 7 years agoEmbeds a QR code over any video you download. Inevitably ends up asking to install extra software 'to help' with saving to disk. Feels scammy.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13107061, 7 years agoAfter 3 hours downloading, I saw it has placed a QR-code in the video.
It should've been made clear before, but I did not find any hint to that.
Really annoying - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13859397, 7 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by sheila, 7 years agoatualmente os vídeos da globo tem esta extensão que não deixa baixar pelo dowload helper como antes: ghtml
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13857027, 7 years agoWas 5 star. After the latest update, it takes 300% to 600% longer for each download. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13856649, 7 years agoTechnik okay, aber die Umsetzung ist furchtbar!!! INzwischen von Schwachmaten völlig kaputtprogrammiert! Übersicht NULL, Bedienung NULL, Funktion auch nur noch NULL! Wozu ein MP4-Video konvertiert werden muß? Keine Ahnung...
DAzu Extra-Software nötig - wofür eigentlich???
Und ein "Wasserzeichen oben in der Ecke? Sagt mal, hackts bei Euch eigetnlich???
