- Rated 4 out of 5by tdj1138, 7 years agoI liked the older version of Download helper. I am having problems with the companion app. that seems to be required to download most videos. It seems to introduce a lot of complications to the download process.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Tanja, 7 years agoThis add-on is the one of my favorites.
I've used it for almost 10 years and for the most part, it does a good job of downloading videos via the Firefox browser, mainly flv and mp4 video, but it works for mpeg, wmv and jpg image files as well.
It's free, never had any issues with malware or adware.
It is almost all that I wish from down-loader, it is very useful and easy to work whit it.
I truly recommended it to everybody. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13813737, 7 years ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by joemiller, 7 years agoDoes what it says.. would be nice to have preferences of output options instead of all the options they give you, which can get quite busy with multiple videos on a page, but with a little patience it'll get the job done. Thank you!
- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13810568, 7 years agoDoes what it says on the label -- zero complaints regarding functionality or compatibility so far. Now, would I really rather not engage an external executable to do this task? Absolutely. But, this seems to fill the gap, at least until someone figures out an internal solution (involving tech stuff more advanced than the tiny bit of top-level scripting I've learned).
- Rated 4 out of 5by KingTruth, 7 years agoAs at this date on Firefox version 57 on Linux Mint 18.3, the updated "companion" is generally needed to download anything .ADP to combine vid and audio two streams. On Youtube it worked very well. A blue button appears whilst it's working. If you reload the download drop down menu and click on the blue button, the particular choice you made will have its progress shown in a window. By clicking on the right hand side arrows for entries, one can delete items to clean up the menu of choices. This is keeps things tidier. The extension keeps being advanced to match the twists and turns of Youtube designed to thwart downloading. Downloading and converting( like mp3 ) is a snap. Always wait a good 6 seconds for any video to be detected. On Ubuntu, Linux Mint and other Debian versions of Linux, the download process for the free and needed companion app is dead easy. If a day comes when the extension doesn't work..give the team a couple of weeks to make adjustments to Youtube's current dodge and you'll find it works again. I find it also works on the latest Firefox in Windows 10. Kudo's once more in its long history.
- Rated 4 out of 5by JanetWu02, 7 years agoEasy to use. Works with YouTube. It would be better if it can download video from YouKu and Dailymotion also.
- Rated 4 out of 5by ChaosAngel, 7 years agoWorks very well, even where other apps don't, but occasionally only gets a fraction of a video and can't tell that it has. Somehow winds up with "orphans" a lot, but those can be cleared easily. Usually pretty robust.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13804844, 7 years agoApp works well and supports many sites. My only complaint is that you cannot set a default download location using only Windows Explorer but must download their utility.
