About this extension
The idea behind this project is to make it as simple as possible for everyone to have make their websites transparent and to better match the rest of the browser better.
Prerequisites:
Windows 11
1. Open Zen Browser and go to about:config
2. Make sure that browser.tabs.allow_transparent_browser, widget.transparent-windows and widget.windows.mica are all set to true
3. Install MicaForEveryone (optional)
3.1. In MicaForEveryone add a new process rule and select "zen"
3.2. Activate Blur Behind and set the Backdrop Type to Acrylic
Linux
1. Open Zen Browser and go to about:config. Ensure the installed version of Zen is above release 1.11.2b
2. Make sure that browser.tabs.allow_transparent_browser and zen.widget.linux.transparency are set to true
3. For a blurred window with KDE PLASMA, install kwin-effects-forceblur through your system repository, or build from source
3.1. Follow steps shown on the project Github to enable blur, and add zen to the allowlist
With version 0.2.0 an early approach for dynamic transparency was added which aims to dynamically make any website transparent. Please keep in mind that this feature isn't finished yet and is still being worked on.
The following websites are currently supported by Transparent Zen:
