- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 16248181, 5 years agoI can not understand why I need to install addon to use Firefox Relay. It can be server-side solution, no need to install addons essentially. No explanation/justification was displayed when I registered myself to Firefox Relay. I felt like I am forced to install unnecessary addons. I trust Mozilla and I believe this addon does not collectt our user data. That is why I installed this addon. I will not if other service provider requests me to same thing.

posted 5 years agoIn order to discover the fields within a page in which the user can enter an email address so that we could autofill them, we needed to extend the functionality of the Firefox browser. Since Relay is new and in Beta and we wanted a mechanism to deliver updates and fixes quickly, the best route for us to deliver the browser side portion of Relay was through an add-on. In the future, we may include that Relay functionality in the Firefox browser so a separate add-on is not necessary. Relay can be used without the add-on (for example with a non-Firefox browser) by visiting the relay.firefox.com site and copy and pasting email aliases into the email address fields. - Rated 4 out of 5by Tintn, 5 years agoPlease add the ability to enter existing relays into text boxes opposed to opening extension in order to copy an alias.
Otherwise no issues yet ! - Rated 2 out of 5by Фугас Броколя, 5 years agoFirefox Relay Service and Unicode escape sequence.
That's what I get:
Здравствуйте
It's "Hello" in Cyrillic.
--UPD--
It was "Body" of email. Google Mail.
Also, answer notification came to me directly to my main mail (not relay) and contains this:
We & #39 ;re
and
& quot; From & quot;, & quot;Subject & quot;, or & quot;Body & quot; of the email?
Idk is that google, mozilla or both.Developer response
posted 5 years agoWe just deployed a new release which should fix this issue. If it does, can you let us know here? (And maybe update your review so other users will also know it's working?) - Rated 5 out of 5by PeX, 5 years ago

- Rated 2 out of 5by scram, 5 years agoA small downside to this addon, it should be possible from an email field to choose the temporary address already saved in the browser.
But I see that you can only create new addresses via the icon in the field.
if I want to take back a temporary email address already registered, I have to go in the address management to make a copy/paste.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Ed, 5 years agoI love the idea! Unfortunately the site I was trying to use it on (mjam.net) didn't seem to think that the *@relay.firefox.com address was an actual email address and prompted me to enter one over and over again.
So for now I cannot give it a better rating, but I will gladly change it if I was somehow mistaken, the issue is not with firefox relay, or the issue is fixed.
EDIT: keep up the good work! - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13289131, 5 years agoGreat idea. Unfortunately, the beta refuses to safe preferences (specifically the setting to stop replacing all email fields on websites). This makes it difficult-to-impossible to log in to some sites.
- Rated 4 out of 5by User, 5 years agoGood work. Would you add an option to copy email address in one click?

- Rated 5 out of 5by xKezzer117x, 5 years agoThis is exactly the type of of app/extension I've been looking for for ages. Mozilla creates yet another legitimate, simple way for users to bolster their online privacy.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 16230687, 5 years agoLove the idea here, but have a problem with encoded emails.
I receive emails in Hebrew, but the relayed emails appear Jibrish. I assume the relay does not work will for encoded languages.Developer response

- Rated 5 out of 5by Luke, 5 years agoAbsolutely love this idea and the execution is great too. I would absolutely pay to be able to generate a new, unique email address for every new site, rather than be limited to just the 5.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Pit, 5 years agoI wanted to try to register to 9gag.com using relay and the address is blocked.
I really didn't want to write a review yet as I couldn't play with it enough, but this is the only way to contact you. - Rated 3 out of 5by Tyler Regas, 5 years agoNice. I like the idea. I get the idea of having just a few while they're testing it, but I don't understand why the data on the site (i.e., your aliases) don't show up in the add-on. All we get it this crummy features slider and no way to turn it off or even make the tool usable, aside from trying to jam that huge logo into a small text field. I look forward to simple improvements.
- Rated 4 out of 5by bloodbuzz, 5 years agoFirst issue encountered today. Tried to change my email with Craigslist but was unable to.
Craigslist required confirmation from old and new email addresses. Old email address received the confirmation request and this was confirmed.
However, Firefox relay forwarded (as it is supposed to) the new "relay" email. So when I tried to confirm it, it only showed the old email to Craigslist.
I wonder if this issue will occur with other site that I want to change my email to the "relay" email?
See below:
We have received a request to change the email address associated with your craigslist account.
If you did not request this change, please log in and change your password.
Old address:---------hotmail.com
New address:--------relay.firefox.com
You will need to confirm this change from both the old address and the new address.
You have 60 minutes to submit both confirmations.
Visit the link below to confirm this change: - Rated 5 out of 5by Shannon, 5 years agoHelps tremendously. I have already observed it working on a contest site that I had to enter an email. Only complaint is when in settings -Show relay icon in email fields on websites is turned off, it turns back on when browser is reopened. Sometimes the icon has prevented me from entering sites that already have a user name/password saved to it.

We've heard about this from a couple of folks now and are investigating. Thanks for the feedback. - Rated 4 out of 5by ohm3ro, 5 years ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by PeteJH, 5 years agoGood concept, but only 5 aliases means it is not of any practical use just yet. To be fair, it is still in beta and does have an "Experimental" tag.
The icon added to email fields interferes with my password manager. The "Show Relay icon in email fields on websites" setting allows you to disable this feature. Unfortunately, it resets to enabled every time you restart the browser.Developer response

We're working on a product that expands upon the 5 email aliases. We wanted to assess interest in this type of service before we invested in a more complete offering. We have logged issues for instances where our icon interferes with other password managers and the issues with the setting not persisting across browser restarts. Thanks for being an early adopter of Relay and finding value in it.
