This add-on adds a lot of functionality to YouTube and makes it a more private experience as well. Ads can also be kept in check too; you can block it entirely but I allow channels I subscribed to to show ads if they are responsible. There may be others out there, but this extension has a good track record and the developer is keen on supporting new tech like Manifest V3.

I literally cannot use youtube anymore without this extension. It fixes all problems I've ever had with it, and brings features I didn't even know I needed.
