e: thanks for the reply - guess i was blind due to the extension being tucked away in the 'more extensions' thing. still annoying that its default behaviour though, especially the thumbnail thing. surely picking a random motion blurred time is more detrimental than a potentially clickbaity thumbnail?
forcing titlecase is obnoxious, really wish there was a toggle for that as it kinda steamrolls the grammar/form of other languages just because they happen to use the latin script (!) or stylistic choices for the video title.
also by default it seems to choose your current position in the video as the new thumbnail even if you haven't explicitly picked it - a lot of times results in people removing an okay thumbnail and it getting replaced with motionblurred nonsense.
i know it sounds petty but if these are my only two bits of feedback then it must be good !Developer response
posted 2 years agoPlease check the options, there are options related to all these things. You can even configure things like formatting to be different for specific channels - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15221227, 2 years agoI love letting the community crush the stupid trends of marketing like this. I just wish it was more self-explanatory how to use the tool, as I actually needed to watch the how-to video to learn where to click to make my own changes, and even that barely covered the actual details of how it works.

- Rated 4 out of 5by yoda, 2 years agoI like the idea, but thumbnails appear blank half the time (despite selecting show random screenshot in settings + I have fast internet). In the meantime, I'm using clickbait remover add-on for thumbnails and this for titles.

posted 2 years agoThis was a due to a server outage, and a bug preventing it from using the backup server properly when the main server is down.
Server is back so it should be good now, and I'll fix that bug so it doesn't completely break for other server outages in the future - Rated 5 out of 5by vasiliy, 2 years agoI like the idea and the implementation very much, well done and thanks to the author!

- Rated 5 out of 5by hamsterwolf, 2 years agoThis is, without a doubt, THE best extension I've ever seen on Firefox. Browsing YouTube is now a pleasant, stress-free experience that no longer makes me feel irritated or angry by moronic thumbnails. I just wish we could toggle it for certain channels since I do enjoy seeing Binging Wish Babish's thumbnails, but that's an extremely small price to pay for the peace of mind this brings.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 15007095, 2 years agoUnfortunately it conflicts with "BlockTube", which is number 2 priority addon for me for youtube (3 is being SponsorBlock), so i have to disable it for now. But otherwise it's pretty good so far.
Reply (12.07):
I think i mostly have the default settings, but to be fair, its kind of a little buggy addon by itself, and i never found any better alternative.
It did work ok 3-4 days before that (ignoring the thumbnail and general lag), but after that some videos just suddenly stopped playing altogether, and other ones break mid-play, and disabling "dearrow" instantly stopped all of it.Developer response
posted 2 years agoInteresting, it shouldn't. Are there specific settings you have enabled in BlockTube that conflict?
Edit: oh that's a separate issue, but that should be fixed now - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15695248, 2 years agoI have been dreaming of this addon for years. Ajay Ramachandran is a god among us. Thank you Ajay for all that you do!
- Rated 4 out of 5by showers, 2 years agoI absolutely love this addon and the concept behind it, but unfortunately, it seems to be very resource-intensive, causing my videos to chug along and lag for the first few seconds while it attempts to load many thumbnails, on top of causing all thumbnails to load slowly...

posted 2 years agoThe thumbnail generation service I'm running has gone down to due a storage issue, so it is falling back to local generation, which is probably causing those issues. I'll look into making the local generation work better in the future when outages happen. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17970984, 2 years agoI think this add-on is a great idea, and like many other reviewers, I didn't really know I needed this until I turned it on.
Currently, my only issue is that this app seems to really mess with the initial loading of videos, like it will stutter or not start in the first 10~20 seconds before returning to normal performance.
This will only get better as more people start contributing to the process, but even now, not being exposed 24/7 to clickbait and other means to tug at your attention span makes a world of difference.
Edit: Thank you for the response. It seems thumbnail generation service is back online, and as long as local generation performance can be improved, I think that might be the better long term solution, but I'm not here to tell you how to run the add-on.Developer response

Wish it had more community contributions but that will come with time. Love that it's open source, keep up the good work
