Privacy Policy for Page Assist
Data Collection
Page Assist does not collect, store, or transmit any user data to external servers. All operations and data storage occur locally within your browser.
Browser Permissions
Page Assist requires the following browser permissions to function properly:
- Notifications: To provide system notifications.
- Website Content Access: Required for the "Chat with Webpage" feature.
- Unlimited Storage: Used to store chat history locally in your browser.
- Active Tab: To interact with the current webpage and capture screenshots.
- Scripting: Enables the "Chat with Webpage" feature.
- Web Requests: Used to modify request headers for local AI model interaction and to avoid CORS issues.
These permissions are necessary for the extension to function as intended, and Page Assist does not use them to track or collect personal data.
Chat with Webpage Feature
The "Chat with Webpage" feature allows users to interact with a webpage using locally running AI models like Ollama or similar services. This feature does not transmit data to external servers. The chat processing is performed locally on the user's machine.
Page Share Feature
When using the Page Share feature:
- Data is only shared when the user explicitly chooses to connect to an external service.
- Users can opt for self-hosting for complete data control.
- Shared data can be permanently deleted from the server by the user at any time.
- No residual data is retained after deletion.
Data Storage
- All chat history and settings are stored locally in the user's browser.
- No data is transmitted externally unless explicitly initiated by the user.
- Users have full control over their stored data.
Third-Party Services
Page Assist does not integrate with any third-party analytics, tracking services, or external servers.
Extension Detection
Page Assist does not make it explicitly apparent to websites that the extension is installed. However, if a website detects browser modifications (e.g., request headers altered for local AI interactions), it may infer the presence of an extension.
Changes to Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to update this privacy policy as needed. Any significant changes will be communicated to users.
