by h0nd, 4 years agoId expect the tracking elements of this URL to be removed by this extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/clearurls/?utm_source=addons.mozilla.org&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=featured
and change to:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/clearurls/
But it did not happen with this extension installed.
Same with following URL:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/get-started-firefox-overview-main-features?utm_source=desktop-snippet&utm_medium=snippet&utm_campaign=f100_week1_SUMOmainfeatures&utm_term=20603&utm_content=rel
Maybe I misunderstood or didnt configure correctly. idk.
edit: Dear Kevin R./developer, thank you for taking the time for this very well explanatory reply. since this issue was due to the browser itself, i changed the rating accordingly. thank you again!

posted 4 years agoHi, thank you for your feedback. You have understood the addon correctly. Actually, these tracking elements should be removed - and they usually are. However, there are technical restrictions from Mozilla for all URLs that belong to Mozilla/Firefox such as mozilla.com. These URLs must not and cannot be modified by any addon, so ClearURLs does not work on Mozilla/Firefox websites, but this is true for all addons.
You can deactivate these restrictions if you remove the affected URLs in the "about:config" from the "extensions.webextensions.restrictedDomains" setting.

Su página de ayuda dice que agregues las URL, en ese caso tienes que hacer todo tú, no hay un filtrado automático. Su página de ayuda dice que después de varias veces que limpia la URL ya queda lista, hay apps que lo hacen a la primera. Inservible este Add-on.

ClearURLs is a must-have Firefox extension for anyone who values privacy and a cleaner browsing experience. It automatically strips tracking parameters from URLs, preventing companies from following you across the web. This makes your links shorter, neater, and more private.
Pros:
✅ Automatic URL cleaning: Removes tracking parameters in real time, keeping your links tidy and private.
✅ Boosts privacy: Prevents companies from tracking your clicks and browsing behavior.
✅ Lightweight and efficient: Doesn’t slow down Firefox or consume unnecessary resources.
✅ Open-source and transparent: Developed with privacy in mind, free from shady practices.
✅ Customizable rules: Allows you to add custom rules for specific sites.
Cons:
❌ May break some referral links: Occasionally, it can prevent certain affiliate or referral links from working properly, but you can easily whitelist trusted sites.
❌ Minimal user interface: While functional, the UI is pretty barebones—though that’s part of its simplicity.
💡 Overall, ClearURLs is a fantastic Firefox extension for anyone serious about privacy and reducing online tracking. It works silently in the background, keeping your links clean and your data safer. Highly recommended! - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18903740, a month ago

- Rated 4 out of 5by jcfyre, 2 months agoVERY good extension. But as of recently when I try to access the logs in ClearURLs it gives me this message: “The page at ClearURLs says:
DataTables warning: table id=logTable - i18n file loading error. For more information about this error, please see datatables net/tn/21” I left https out of net/tn/21 since mozilla doesnt allow URLs in reviews. I am not sure what to do. Also, on both the desktop and mobile versions of this extension, changing the color for the theme in ClearURL settings never actually changes it, but rather just keeps resetting back to orange no matter the selection. - Rated 5 out of 5by ramiel, 2 months ago
