- Rated 2 out of 5by HonestReviews, 5 years ago8-8-24: SLow interface, takes forever to make the settings. doesn't reliably show on menu bar. needs better documentation showing for non-techies how to use the settings to avoid being profiled/blocked
4-25-24: You have to be a programmer to figure out which settings to use for which purposes. Not enuf documentation on this, you're riding BLIND.
5-2-23: mostly not using it because they need better guide on how to keep sites from breaking whilst still modifying ID parameters that the site uses to ID and track you and to BLOCK you.
update 12-11-21: many "not on whitelist errors"-cannot access website because they detect settings they do not expect, such as timezone changes or browser readout not congruent with you usual login-especially with FBook. Still slow to load.Program needs further documentation to teach users which settings will break sites or not. Basically an ok add on that could use some improvements.
UPDATE 9-29-21: CANNOT HANDLE POPUP ALERTS FROM OTHER PROGRAMS SUCH AS VPNS, ETC. YOU HAVE TO CLOSE ALL OTHER POPUPS TO LOAD IT. EXTREMENLY SLOW TO LOAD UNDER LATEST FFOX. FACEBOOK BLOCKS YOUR CONNECTION IF YOUR TIME ZONE DOES NOT CORRESPOND TO YOUR ACTUAL IP REGARDLESS OF WHAT CHAMELEON TELLS THEM.
ALSO BLOCKS IF YOU USE THE WRONG BROWSER SELECTED BY CHAMELEON. APPARENTLY CHAMELEON IS MORE LIKE "WE ARE HACKERS" TO FIREFOX THAN ANY SO CALLED CHAMELEON DISGUISE. FB TOO SMART FOR CHAMELEON.
UPDATE:7-14-21: Basically a good add-on. Good documentation and user instructions lacking in similar addons. Biggest complaint is slow to load gui and slow to respond to user input. Documentation could still be improved for non-techies as it's very hard to determine which settings will cloak you without breaking a site and which settings actually work to disguise your identity.
UPDate: 6-10-20: Big improvement especially in the documentation. A good add-on. A little slow to load and change the settings. Not really sure this program will mask you as unique, but it does work without being buggy. Overall good program and cudoos for the documentation help pages.
UPDATE: 5-13-20 DOES NOT WORK with tor firefox latest version. Cannot set settings. worthless and disabled.
very granular control over all your browser settings, but breaks sites often. you have to experiment to get it right. need to have better help manual for this as you have to be an expert to figure out the impact of all the settings. update 5-3-2020. They broke it with the latest update, no longer works properly cannot set settings.Developer response
posted 5 years agoHi,
Unfortunately, that's to be expected with privacy enhancing options these days. There is a wiki that details the options provided here: https://github.com/sereneblue/chameleon/wiki. - Rated 5 out of 5by Parl, 5 years agoNice work, i love it., Please add more screen sizes, like please add 30 to 40 in this list, Please update this asap....really nice add-on...only screen sizes issue....

posted 5 years agoHi,
I will be adding a few screen resolutions in the next major update. Screen spoofing will be improved to better mimic real browser profiles. There's not too many common screen resolutions that's missing. https://gs.statcounter.com/screen-resolution-stats/desktop/worldwide - Rated 5 out of 5by TPeter, 5 years agoGood extension. Could you add more screen sizes to next update, Also please add more windows and mac os browser versions.

posted 5 years agoHi, sure! I'll add a few more screen sizes and browser profiles in the next major update (ETA later this month). - Rated 5 out of 5by Davide, 5 years agohttps://whoer.net/ still shows my *real* userstring (by JavaScript) instead of the spoofed one.
Can i fix that by toggling one of the configuration settings of Chameleon?Developer response
posted 5 years agoHi, make sure you enable script injection. More details can be found in the wiki: https://github.com/sereneblue/chameleon/wiki/Profile. Developer response
posted 5 years agoHi, there isn't a way to toggle pdf.js programmatically. If you'd like to disable pdf.js, there is an about:config option you can toggle: pdfjs.disabled.- Rated 5 out of 5by YasserDivar, 5 years ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Kiwi_Crazy, 5 years agoIf I choose Enable resist fingerprinting option, user agent tests show me Windows 10 and Firefox 68. And nothing I can change (I tried manual user agent selection, real profile, whitelisting site etc. Nothing changes). My real OS is Windows 7 x64 and Firefox 72.

posted 5 years agoHi, did you enable script injection? Without it, RFP will overwrite the navigator user agent. If you're still having issues, please report it here: https://github.com/sereneblue/chameleon/issues. - Rated 5 out of 5by My_Cheese_Is_Slippin', 5 years agoAlong with the Advanced Preferences (about:config) this is better than a VPN !
Excellent work !
Thank you very much.Developer response
posted 5 years agoThanks for the kind words. I do want to note that you should be using Chameleon with a VPN. Chameleon only changes your browser fingerprint, it doesn't make you anonymous online. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15467264, 5 years ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by Jiggs, 5 years agoBravo devs for being responsive after making this useful but not java disabling levels of supposed obscurity. Perfecto 7*
- Rated 5 out of 5by icefox, 5 years agoThis seems to be the complete package for browser profile spoofing. Does a lot more than just change your user agent. Some of the reviewers are pretty uneducated, let me explain that some settings in this addon HAVE to break sites by design. It's how the internet works.

posted 5 years agoDon't forget to use Chameleon in addition to other extensions! https://github.com/sereneblue/chameleon/wiki/Recommended-Setup - Rated 5 out of 5by EmirSc, 5 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Powerman, 5 years agoAmazing tool, I love it. A must have. The only addon that also fake javascript. But setting the about:config is not automated. Please make a tweaking tool for this.
Developer response
posted 5 years agoThanks for the feedback! Unfortunately, changing about:config settings programmatically isn't possible with the WebExtension API. The best alternative is to reach out to Mozilla to create new APIs for specific about:config entries. - Rated 5 out of 5by DNT, 5 years agoAmazing extension against tracking. Needs other addons to complement it though. Very nice set of features.
A good anti-tracking test is this tool: https://webbrowsertools.com/privacy-test/
With other extensions installed as well aim for a score of 50/100. Then add VPN & fingerprinting protection. You are able to reach 90 and 100. Manually add those points.Developer response

posted 5 years agoRecaptcha doesn't play nice with anything that tries to change your fingerprint. I'm not sure if there is a 'fix' but there is an issue open about this: https://github.com/sereneblue/chameleon/issues/250- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15280388, 6 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15109409, 6 years agoExcellent little addon. LOVE the checklist, very thorough. Would like to see a little popup descriptor for each setting. Inaccurately reported session identifiers and tls fast_start setting as its opposite.
Disable SSL False Start security.ssl.enable_false_start true
Disable SSL Session Identifiers security.ssl.disable_session_identifiers false
false_start is actually disabled, and session_identifiers are actually disabled... not sure whats going on here. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15191256, 6 years agoSuddenly it stopped display notifications to me. I need to hover on the extension to see my spoofing settings everytime i open Firefox. Before it always displayed information about OS, Screen resolution etc
Developer response
posted 6 years agoPlease check if enable notifications is enabled. If it's enabled and it's still not working, please open an issue here: https://github.com/sereneblue/chameleon/issues. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15182754, 6 years agowow ! impressive, serious work. thanks.
a lot of options, very good documentation, with guidelines and explaination for each.
I will try it for some time and update my review if needed, but I'm pretty confident it will not be necessary :-)
I am now allegedly browsing with chrome on an iPhone with a 1-meter-wide screen resolution, ... for the next hour, at least. priceless.
thanks again - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 15164070, 6 years agoCumple con lo que promete, ademas viene con muchas características para la privacidad.
